High School Scholarships
The Indiana Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (IAHPERD) is soliciting applicants for our High School Scholarships. Each year the Indiana AHPERD awards four (4) $500 scholarships to college-bound high school seniors.
Purpose:
These scholarships have been established to provide financial assistance to deserving high school students who plan to attend an Indiana college or university to pursue an education which leads to a degree in one of IAHPERD’s disciplines: health education, physical education, recreation, dance education, or allied areas (including sport administration). Majors in such fields as pre-medicine, nursing, physical therapy, engineering, dental hygiene, and other health professions are NOT within the fields represented in IAHPERD and cannot be considered for these scholarships.
Criteria for Selection:
The IAHPERD Awards Committee will select scholarship recipients based on the following criteria:
- participation in school activities
- participation in community activities
- academic achievement (minimum grade point average of 3.0)
- financial need
- proposed major in one of the following disciplines: health education,
physical education, recreation, dance education, or allied areas
(including sport administration) at an Indiana college or university.
Application Deadline:
All applications must be postmarked no later than January 15. Applications mailed after the deadline will not be considered.
